Micro Budget Movie Making:

Tricks and Tips

These are tricks and tips for micro budget filmmaking that I've discovered in my moviemaking ventures. They are described assuming the reader has a basic understanding of shooting and editing video. Attempt these at your own risk: For anyone unfortunate enough to have a lawyer in his or her family, this material is provided as educational use only. While I'm making disclaimers, I have a strong opinion about technical qualities of micro budget movies. However, while technical qualities are very important in all movies, without an interesting story and a good script, a movie with high producton values can only be mediocre at best. As they say in the audio industry, "you can't polish a turd." Take these tips and trick in concideration, but storytelling is always most important. With that said, these are my recommendations to make a technically better micro budget movie:

Build a Camera Steadying Device

Build a Large Scrim or Butterfly Light Diffuser

Inexpensive Video Lights

What's In My Grip Tote?

How To Make Video Look Like Film

Build a Camera Jib Arm

Build a Camera Dolly
