A great place to spend hours and hours watching and reviewing student movies. Plus, it has an active message board that discusses movies and movie making. The group is younger, but very enthusiastic.

This is the best message board for Final Cut Pro editing discussions and one of the better places for anything to do with digital video. When having problems with anything from location sound to video to dvd authoring, this is the first place I go. Just don't ask where to find Bruce the Yak.

Another great Final Cut Pro and video site. Great articles will help with the basics or give you ideas for the more advanced.

LAFCPUG.org

This is the first and best Final Cut Pro User Group based in Los Angeles. You will see the same names over and over again at this and the two website links above it. These are professionals giving out great advice and information.

This is the best place to discuss Adobe After Effects. It also has the best After Effects tutorials. COW is an acronym for community of the world.

RonDexter.com

He seems to be an old pro offering advice. His thorough essays on just about everything to do with filmmaking make this site a top favorite. Mr Dexter even has an esay about the drywall screw and it's application in filmmaking. Just like pulling cable, this should be the first thing you learn if you want to survive on a production. This guy is awesome!

This is a site I've known about for years. It has some great articles and links on independent filmmaking. This site is cool because it actually sells independent films. It's very important to support independent filmmakers (no, you didn't just see an independent film at your local cineplex). Browse through the "distribution" section and go buy something–even if you're a starving student/filmmaker.

HomeBuiltStabilizers.com

The name says it all. This was a major influence in my jib arm, dolly, and soon-to-be-built steadicam.

EquipmentEmporium.com

This is a great resource for production sound. In addition to selling gear, they offer great advice and tips for better sound.

This is another great group of amatuer filmmakers. There's plenty to explore as they have media, a constantly updated filmmaking FAQ, and a message board. I get my web server through this group.

Jushhome.com

Nick linked a few of my pages (without asking) before they were offically up and now I'm linking him! This is a great amateur movie link place. The do-it-yourself gear section is very cool. A couple of the links might look familiar.

www.bokserfilms.com

He linked me, so I'm linking him. Bokserfilms is a filmmakers web resource, for news, information, and media on indie and mainstream films. Bokserfilms is also a production company that specializes in shorts, commercials, music videos, 3D/2D, animations, and much more.

This is a micro budget film site. There are some great how to topics including rain machines, a battery pack belt, and a home built "doggie cam." This site has great multi media! All the best stuff is in the "Behind the Scenes" section. Look for a editing competition where you edit supplied footage to make the best trailer for their film.

This website is also run by the "stick to what you know" people. In an email, Liza wrote, "have you gone to my other site? We kill bears." Enough said! Be sure to check out my favorite part, Ted-E TV.

Yeah, no explanation needed here.
