Where are the updates? I don’t know but I think it’s time for a
redesign of the site. I’m sick of the black background and I want to add
more content. All sorts of websites are linking me to. The coolest link so far
is from the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago (Chi-town!!!). In their
online exhibit, “Action! An Adventure
in Moviemaking,” I’m
listed as a resource for an introduction to filmmaking. While I don’t really
believe that my resources are for the filmmaker newbie, I’m honored none-the-less
to be listed with people like Ron Dexter and Bob Rodriguez.
Ooo, this weekend I'm helping a few friends shoot a spec commercial for a shoe
company. If anyone has any idea how they could go about selling this idea to
Nike/Pumma/Vans/New Balance, please let
me know.
Work-wise, I have been really busy and continue to work with people
that are famous, award-winning, beautiful, higher class, more
important, and very recognizable
(these are all things that are important in the ‘business.’)
The last project I worked on, the director was on the cover of Variety the
second day of our shoot. I’m realizing that, just like it’s not what you
know but whom you know, it’s not what you’ve done, but who you’ve
worked with. I hate that aspect of my job and therefore try not to schmooze,
namedrop, or participate in any other Hollywood low-life activities unless it’ll
help me get a job! Speaking
of, work’s slowing down so now would be a good time to hire
me. Also,
Ain’t technology great? I just got a new laptop computer. It’s
the newer 17” PowerBook with
as many hardware bells and whistles as I could pack into this one inch thick
machine and all the video editing and compositing
software apps that I use on my home computer. And, of course I had to get the
best of all the different accessories. One of my favs is the Airport
Express.
Not only do you get wireless internet, but you can connect your printer to
it to print documents wirelessly. But best of all is Airtunes. You can play
your
mp3s on iTunes wirelessly to your home stereo connected to the airport express.
It’s extremely simple, but amazing—this is what apple is best at.
And yes, my Microsoft controlled windows friends, it’ll work for you too.
This laptop is great for work because I can be on set, on location, at the production
office, or someone else’s home office and get all my work done. Just last
job, I was in Hidden Valley, in the middle of nowhere, and was working on my
laptop. I can connect to the Internet via modem, Ethernet, WiFi networks (which
I’m known to leach off so watch out!), or even my Motorola v600 Bluetooth
phone. That’s right, anywhere I have cell service (like on car trips),
I can send emails and go on the web from the phone in my pocket (no wires).
I’m such a geek, I love this kind of technology. Now I need to go to my
local café and show off my new toy *cough* I mean tool.

I was hacked! I feel so cool. I was out of town and couldn't fix the website
until today so the hacker got it's message out for 3 whole days. Work has
gotten super busy so the website is neglected as usual. Plus, summer is
almost over, I'm trying to enjoy the nice weather as much as possible.
Cheers!

Over a million hits to the website. Yeah! I added FAQs to the end of some of
the how-to's and I added another video. Leah's been bugging me for, like,
six
months
to
put
Political
Crossfire
back up.
Now, I encourage anyone to watch
the video and email your
thoughts about it to her. On another subject, I think it's great that
Fahrenheit 911 is doing so well. I personally didn't like it as much
as his bowling
movie, or even "Rodger and Me." It wasn't as focused a story.
Now, I can also understand why people may not like it, politically. But
what I don't understand is why people claim that it's not a documentary.
Hello? When did documentary become synonymous with 'fair and unbiased view'?
Or even reality? Go watch "Bicycle Thief" or "The Thin Blue
Line." Even Flaherty in Nanook of the North" directed the Eskimos
to get a certain shot (he requested multiple take of some scenes) and
even asked them to use hunting spears rather than the rifles they were
accustomed to (because it looked more authentic). Just like reality TV
and Fox News Corp., documentaries aren't always fair, unbalanced, accurate
portrayals of real
events. Oh, and on
a last thought, how can a nation be fully sovereign when there's over
a
hundred thousand foreign troops still occupying it? Comment
on this. Speaking
of reality TV, my new most hated show is Fox's, "The Casino." Not
only is it incredibly boring, but it's also incredibly over-produced. Like,
they hire a "professional
gambler" to come in and try and cheat the casino. But that's boring
because Fox can't rig the games (damnit, NGC!), so they hire a (very unconvincing)
transvestite to seduce the gambler because he
claims to be a ladie's man. The big dramatic moment is that he hooks up
with this transvestite. Like he couldn't tell she was a Fox plant because
of the cameras following her around. And, c'mon, the guy couldn't be a
'ladie's man' and not know a lady. This show is way overproduced and way
too not interesting. Fox needs to hire me to be a producer.

Where are the updates? I've finally added a few things. Things are
moving and shaking for me, what can I say? LA Film Fest is in
town, and I'm trying
to take
advandage
of it as much as possible. I also have renewed my interest in exploitation
and
b-films.
They are so much fun! I recently got the DVD, "Surf Nazis Must Die" (used
at Amoeba - $9). It is put out by Troma .
They have been providing the world with trash action, horror, skin
flicks, and a combonation of everything for over 30 years. I just check
their website and saw that they sell most of their titles for three bucks.
You can get 3 titles for the same cost of one "Dodgeball" ticket
at your local megaplex. I also want to publicly pay my respects to my
favorite
dive bar in Hollywood that
is
the latest victim to development around the Hollywood/Highland area.
Yes, the Powerhouse is closing. This bar had everything: warm beer,
neon signs,
velvet paintings, darts, and one killer juke box. It's so sad to see
the's icons of the past being plowed under to make room for the next
85 dollar-a-plate
sushi resaurant or euro-trash night club-slash-bowling alley (lucky strike
anyone?). So, if anyone has another good dive bar in the Hollywood area,
let me know. Yeah, I guess I'm all about the non-mainstream consumerism
right now. Cheers.

Where are the updates? I have been horrible. They'll be up soon.
2-15-04
My broadband connection is down and I'm connecting via a dialup.
This is tragic. I've had some form of broadband for over six
years now and
I can't believe how slow dialup modems are. Blah!
I just finished a music video and there was someone on set shooting
behind
the scenes
stuff for a MTV show (yes, that one). Well, it was just one person
and a Cannon xl-1s. That's it. Microbudget filmmakers will get
a kick out of that. People have been emailing me saying how much
they
like my do-it-yourself section. That's cool. I wrote everything
just assuming that the majority of my audience would be US based.
It is,
but I've had people from China, Japan, Australia, and all over
Europe give feedback. Sometimes I forget this truly is the World
Wide
Web. ...and that the United States isn't the center of the world. 2-1-04
On my way to go 'network' at the Super Bowl Lingerie
halftime show at the
LA Convention center. Rock it! On another note, I did a vanity
search, seeing how well my
website publicity (or lack there of) is going and saw there's a
Joren temple in Japan. Check
it out. The only reason I mention it is because I only know
of a half dozen Joren's in the world (most in Europe) and find
it cool
that the Japanese temple was named in the 1600s, while they were
still isolationists. I wonder if that'll get me free sushi anywhere?

The Wallet is featured on the main page over at ReWindVideo.com.
This is very exciting as they get thosands of visitors each day. Jon
and the other fine staff of Rewind are good people! Also, a film
by the
production company I'm working with just got an Oscar nomination. Way
to go, guys!
1-26-04
Soft Launch! Yeah. I realize that Internet Explorer doesn't like
Java or Quicktime, so I had to completely redo the way the videos
are presented.
Darn, it looked so cool before. Those that know me will laugh at
the picture of me on the main page. I couldn't figure out what
to put on the main page, so I figured since I'm fully exploring
my narcissistic
nature with a website about myself, I’d put a picture of me
there! I asked my brother what he thought of the website, and he
said, “It’s
great. No offense, but you need a tan.” Well, duh. I’ve
been indoors working in front of a computer for the last month or
two. So, being that I’m fully
emerging into the Los Angeles lifestyle, I gave myself a fake tan.
But not the way you normally do. I Photoshopped a tan onto the picture.
Yes, everything and everyone is fake in LA.

I've gotten really busy with work (which is good for me, bad for
the website). I have two commercials I'm about to work on, a
small business
office to network (ironically, it's an internet service provider),
some freelance video work for a modeling agency I'm dealing with,
and
a real possibility
of
starting
on that
big studio feature in a few weeks. When it rains, it pours–in
a good way. As for the website, I finished everything but the
video
pages. I
realized
I
don't have
any of my old archived video tapes with me so I'll only
put
the ones on my computer up for now.
1-12-04
Another
3:30am update to myself. I'm calling a UPM tomorrow (this morning)
about working on my first studio feature. All fingers are crossed.
I'm making progress with the website, but it's going slowly. The
dialog section
of do it
yourself
sound is
2200
words.
That
was
after I completely threw away the first 1800 words I wrote the night
before. I'm happy with it, but without pretty pictures noone's
gonna read the whole thing. Oh well. F-em
1-9-04
It's 3 in the morning, but I finally made some progress. The links
page is full enough. I'll add more latter to entice people to
come back.
Right, like anyone cares what websites I like to go to. I just realized
this is very pitifull–I'm doing new updates to myself, since
the website isn't up yet. No more negativity. On a lighter note,
George W announced
he wants to build a moon space station and send humans to Mars. Did
NASA discover oil? Soon we'll be 'liberating' martians because they're
a threat to national security. Wait, that movie was already made.
1-8-04
Okay,
I hate blogger, so I'm gonna do the news manually. The web page is a disaster.
Just when I think I'm getting somewhere, I get pushed back two steps. This
is my test news update to see how it works. I can't think of anything
to say because I'm so damn mad at blogger and dreamweaver and fireworks and
safari and whoever invented the internet. I remember and miss the days of
golfers and wais. As anyone can tell, I'm going to have to start using a
spell checker or noones gonna wanna hire me. Oh well, I'm only a FTP away
from updating the news now. Hopefully, I'll be able to fill this with somewhat
more informing information next time.
